Let's face it: buying a used motorcycle can be a little risky. Often there is no way to know what the history of the bike is. Has it been laid down and totaled? Has it been recalled? Has it been stolen or salvaged?
When making an investment in a motorcycle you should do your homework. Bikes can be dangerous - and you certainly don't want to purchase one that's had major damage in the past. We recommend beginning with a motorcycle VIN check. A VIN lookup will help you find out whether a used motorcycle is worth buying.
A VIN search will work for any bike made in 1981 or later:
Just find the seventeen-character VIN for the bike you are interested in. Enter it in the free motorcycle VIN check and in moments you'll see the number of times that particular bike has popped up in the National Vehicle Database.
However, the VIN lookup will only tell you the number of records the database has for the motorcycle you are interested in.
To really find out about the history of the bike you'll need to purchase the Used Motorcycle History Report.
